What the YST do

The Youth Sport Trust equips educators and empowers young people with the vision of creating a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport.

Sport gives young people a platform to have their voice heard and a place to feel they belong. The YST harness this extraordinary power to change young lives today and help them build a brighter tomorrow.

They do this by:

• Running inclusive and innovative programmes
• Bringing together communities of educators
• Providing practical tools and resources

Five big issues the YST are working to tackle

• Only 45% of young people are meeting the chief Medical Officer guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for an average of 60 minutes or more every day (sport England,2021)
• The UK ranked lowest out of 24 European countries for the proportion of 15 years olds with high life satisfaction (PISA, 2018)
• One in seven children are obese by the time they start school, increasing to one in four by year six (NHS 2021)
• 38% of teachers said their PE provision has declined because core subjects have been given additional time (Youth Sport Trust, 2018)
• On is six children have a probable mental disorder (NHS Digital, 2020)

I think we can all agree that active children are not only physically healthy but also mentally healthy, that is why we have chosen to support 2 such great causes. Over the next 3 years AM Mortgage solutions and GLK Academies have pledged to raise £5000 for the YST both though commercial donations and though fun sporting and none sporting charity events. We hope that with your support we can reach and even exceed our target to ensure that GLK Academies and the YST have much needed resources to carry on supporting schools and community projects providing top class coaching and much needed mental health support. Together we are supporting our sports men and women of the future reach their full potential, but not only that we are committed to ensuring our mortgage advisers, business owners, teachers, police officers etc of the future grow up to be physical and mentally strong.
